
This is one of my favorite paintings, entitled "A Very Still Life." :)
It takes a certain sort of person for this to have any appeal, but if anyone has ever been able to find beauty or mercy in the idea of death, it's probably a favorite of theirs as well. I think it makes the point that there can be light in death, and that there are much worse things people can go through than dying.
Painted by Dr. Jack Kevorkian, whom I'm sure you've heard of for his admission of assisted suicide with hundreds of terminally ill patients.
This one shows Icarus falling to his death as the wings his father created melted because he flew too close to the sun, which I think is a story a lot of people know about but don't look too closely at because it says a lot about humanity that some might not want to acknowledge.
